GEO measures and improves how brands are represented in AI-generated answers.

## Metrics

- GEO score: A composite score out of 100 based on five indicators: AI visibility rate (AVR), visibility balance across LLMs (LBI), visibility context, brand perception and technical readiness.
- AVR (AI Visibility Rate): We repeatedly query five LLMs with the registered prompts and measure the share of answers that mention the brand.
- LBI (LLM Balance Index): The same AVR can be vulnerable if visibility is concentrated in a single model. We express this concentration on a 100-point scale.

### What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization, the practice of optimizing for greater brand and content visibility in generative AI answers. It involves analyzing the intent behind users’ questions and refining brand information and content relevant to those answers. Site structure and crawler access conditions are reviewed and improved to make web pages easier for AI to find and understand. Content expertise, accuracy and supporting evidence are strengthened, while brand information is kept consistent across channels. Brand mentions, citations and recommendations in answers from major AI models are measured, and improvements are repeated as results change. Visibility and recommendations vary with factors such as the AI model, the context of the question and competing information. Although specific results cannot be guaranteed, ongoing improvements may help increase how often a brand appears or is recommended in answers to relevant questions.

### How is AVR measured?

We repeatedly query the five LLMs (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Clova and Perplexity) with the registered prompts and calculate the share of answers that mention the brand. The collection frequency depends on the plan you have paid for.

### What does a GEO score of 71 mean?

A composite score out of 100 based on five indicators: AI visibility rate (AVR), visibility balance across LLMs (LBI), visibility context, brand perception and technical readiness.

### Is it possible to set up the technology without help from the development team?

The console checks llms.txt, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, Schema.org and page structure, and provides recommendations. Compare the current server files with the recommendations from UPGEO, then download and apply the changes.

### How long will it take to implement?

Contract → Technical analysis (site structure and crawling checks) → Setup (registering the brand, competitors and prompts) → Go live (data collection begins at the frequency specified by the plan you have paid for). This usually takes about 1–2 weeks, but may take 3–4 weeks depending on the size and technical characteristics of the site.
